In the Belle-Époque chateaus of the French Riviera, the centuries collide. With casual elegance, a new generation of heiresses breathe life back into their family heritage. Zuhair Murad’s Spring-Summer 2023 Couture collection captures the freedom of their azure and gold days, filled with laughter, secrets and sensuality. The nights announced in the same note conclude this sweet joy with natural refinement that excludes any excess.

Zuhair Murad reinterpreted his signature style, combining the spirit of the roaring twenties with explosive sensuality. The embroidery patterns in the collection were inspired by architectural details from the Belle Époque, culled mostly from the glory days of the French Riviera, circa 1970.

Known for being synonymous with couture in the world of celebrity, this collection offered up gowns that we will definitely spot this year by his A-list clientele on red carpets around the world. Pleated and draped gowns in Mediterranean blue, a white halter neck gown, a draped silver dress, mandarin orange and hot fuchsia sequin numbers— who wouldn’t feel absolutely luxurious in these timeless pieces?

The new collection features form-fitting gowns, voluminous capes, high-slit dresses, asymmetric ensembles and more. Ostrich feathers, sequins, fringes, ruffles, hooded dresses and geometric patterns were all seen on the runway, styled with jewels handed down through generations, priceless stones, and Hollywood brooches coming out of the coffers, underlining the suppleness of a sheath, the modeling of a bust.

The color palette was often bright and joyful, with colors that mimicked a sunset such as flame orange, soft pink, pale green and Caribbean blue, dominated the spectacular haute couture pieces.
