French couturier Stéphane Rolland showcased his Spring/Summer 2023 haute couture collection at the Palais de Chaillot in Paris, dedicating his collection to Brazil. The designer showcased a strong, sculptural collection with the gold wedding totem dress taking over the internet.

Appearing in a voluminous wedding dress of golden cloqué lamé, the model’s face had a teardrop cut carved out at the center and a sliver of torso, looking like a heavenly sculpture of a god come to life. Rolland declared that he was inspired by Brazil's patron saint, called Our Lady of Aparecida.

The inspiration of the collection was first from Rio’s architecture during the ‘70s, and Brazil’s Amazonian roots, and the Indigenous people from the rainforest. He also drew inspiration from Brazil’s history, from the conquistadors, and their gold and other treasures. The sumptuousness of the church in Bahia inspired Rolland as well.

Aside for dresses and couture gowns, he focused on creating huge jewelry pieces, such as bracelets and earrings, in metal, wood and gemstones, that were styled with many looks throughout the show.
